Celebrating Young Resilience: The Jacob’s Medal Shines a Light on Military Children
Nominate a Military Child for the 2026 Celebrating Forces Families Awards – Every Nominee Receives the Jacob’s Medal.
Do you know a young person from a military family who deserves recognition?
The Celebrating Forces Families Awards 2026 is now open for nominations—and once again this year, every child nominated for the Young Person’s Award will receive the prestigious Jacob’s Medal.
The Jacob’s Medal was created by Jacob Mason, a young member of the Armed Forces community whose poem “This is Normal For Me” touched hearts across the nation. Rather than accepting personal accolades, Jacob chose to honour other military children by designing a medal that celebrates their courage, resilience, and unique experiences. Whether they’ve shown exceptional strength during a parent’s deployment, contributed to their community, or simply navigated the challenges of military life with grace—every nominee will be recognised with this meaningful award.
Why Nominate?
• Every child nominated receives the Jacob’s Medal
• Shine a light on the often unseen strength of military children
• Help us celebrate their stories at a national level
